Parent involvement is one of the pillars of National Heritage Academies. Not only are parents welcome to help out in the classrooms and at lunch, they are invited to join one of the many parent committees formed at Metro.
Metro’s parent committees meet once a month; twice a month for committee leaders. There are several committees parents can choose to join:
• The Family Fun Committee comes up with things the students and parents can do together. Each year they plan several roller skating parties. These are always a hit. They sponsor our annual Talent Show. Last year’s show had 28 acts perform. In addition, they have hosted carnivals and fall fun days.
• The Buildings and Grounds Committee is for parents who are willing to do light maintenance and/or help with yard work are encouraged to join this group.
• The Moral Focus Committee comes up with ideas for school wide projects. Sometimes parents are willing to present their ideas or speak at morning assemblies.
• The Parent Fundraising Committee distributes merchandise and monitors the incoming money. Ideally, Metro only has one fundraiser a year.
• The Library Committee is in charge of several book fairs each year. They also can help with the inventory of new books, shelving, etc.
Besides the already mentioned, Metro has three other committees: Ambassadors, Technology and The Hospitality/Teacher Appreciation Committee.
We welcome parent involvement! Parents help make Metro great!
